Connection is everything.

That might sound like a bumper sticker, but I mean it in the most fundamental way. Having a genuine sense of connection — to yourself, to the people you love, to the world around you — is one of the most sacred parts of being human. When that connection breaks down, life turns bleak. Things start to fall apart. And that's not sustainable.

But here's the good news: with a little help, you can find your way back.

Starting with a new therapist can feel a lot like a first date — awkward, vulnerable, not quite sure what to do with your hands. I get that. So while the work we do together can absolutely go deep and get serious, I also believe in making you feel as comfortable as possible. Expect some laughter alongside the hard stuff.

If you're into personality frameworks: I'm an Enneagram 4 and an ENFP. Translation — I'm comfortable going deep, I tend to operate like an extrovert but genuinely need my alone time, and I've had to work hard over the years to build discipline and emotional balance. That last part matters, because I'm not just talking about this stuff from the outside.

What working together feels like

The Professional Stuff

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Kansas

  • Master's in Counseling

  • 12+ years of experience serving clients (since 2012)

  • Certified Relational Life Coach, trained directly in the RLT method

  • Additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Additional training in Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Trauma-informed practice

I use RLT skills, too.

I've been married to my wife, Blakely, since 2011, and we have two kids. When Blakely first got to know me — long before we were dating — her honest assessment was: Sheesh, this guy seems sort of dark and twisty on the inside. She was 100% right. Thankfully, I had enough self-awareness to ask for help, and that started a real journey of learning to connect better with myself, others, and the world. I'm still on that journey. I'm just significantly less dark and twisty than I used to be.

I've worked with multiple excellent therapists over the years, but discovering Relational Life Therapy was a genuine turning point — both professionally and personally. When I took my first course with RLT founder Terry Real, my reaction was essentially: Hol-E-Crap. This guy just read my mail.

Applying RLT has had a profound impact on my marriage in particular. I always thought of myself as a good guy, but there were times something inside me would just snap. A reactive part of me would grab the steering wheel and drive — usually straight toward unrealistic, unspoken expectations of Blakely. Not great. But honest.

So when I say I won't ask you to try anything I'm not willing to do myself, I mean it. Feeling stuck is miserable. It also doesn't have to be permanent.

Outside the office

Play might actually be my love language. Being active, board games, hiking, going on adventures, making up ridiculous songs with my kids — I'm in for all of it. I especially love getting out in nature and hiking in the mountains. In quieter moments, I tend to gravitate toward reading (currently deep in a Fantasy kick — any Brandon Sanderson fans?), sitting by my fire pit in the evenings, and apparently, becoming a bird guy. Yes, I'm over 40, and yes, I can now identify Cardinals, White-throated Sparrows, Carolina Wrens, Robins, and several others by their calls. Not even a little bit ashamed. Ok, maybe a little bit.
